This village in Bihar has never seen electricity

The village of Keswar Bigha, Bihar was happy when there were electrical poles installed in their village. They thought they will finally see electricity in their homes, and their children will study under an electrical light. However, much of it remained a dream when the electrical poles were left without wires, leaving the village in darkness. Under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, a Government of India scheme, all villages are supposed to get electrifies and get continuous power supply.

Education of our children suffers because they can't study under kerosene lamps for long. They are also deprived of information, news and entertainment because of the lack of Television.

However, darkness continues to prevail in the lives of the residents of Kesar Bigha, Bihar who have never received electricity. "The lack of apathy of government officials and contractors is apparent with such negligence on their part," says Lalu Kumar. The residents feel it is an injustice as the neighbouring villages are all electrified, but their village is still stuck in dark ages, in spite of them meeting every authority with the issue.

We request you to call Mr. Vasim, Project Engineer of Karpi, Bihar on +91-7033191330 and demand that they electrify the village at the earliest.

If you have an alternative solution to help the residents of Keswar Bigha, Bihar, we would like to take your help. We would love to hear about your ideas on info@videovolunteers.org .
